Dead tree versions of these are often available at my talks. Download whichever ones captures your imagination.
Towards the bottom you'll find two handouts about my books as well as marketing and logistics materials.
Fads, Trends & Principles

This is my notion of how to divide your attention based on your time horizon. From the momentary to the eternal, you become that to which you give your attention. in other words, Play with Fads, Work with Trends, Live by Principles.

Also see the Fads, Trends & Principles card next to the right.
Fads, Trends & Principles bookmark

Fads, Trends & Principles nicely summarized.
Fads, Trends & Principles for Architects

Written for my talk at AIA-NYS, this is a variation on my other Fads article found above. Having been voted onto the AIA National Board, I suppose I have a few things to say to architects.
Business Card Handout

I'm a futurist — did you think that I was going to have an ordinary business card?
Slide Sampler

I never release my full slide deck, but sometimes will provide an annotated selection of them in small PDF format. Here's a sampler of some key points in my talks.
Messages

Coming toward the end of my talk, this is a poem (I didn't know it was a poem, but that's what audience members keep calling it) about the messages we send to children.

And unlike adults, children are not delusional. They know exactly what we have been saying to them.
A School Designed
for Children

In 1930, architects at Eschweiler & Eschweiler built a school designed for children, unlike most schools today, which are designed for adults.

An enchanted school: terra cotta Mother Goose panels wrap the building, a sandbox beneath floor panels in one kindergarten room, a fireplace and a fountain in another.
Think Into Other Boxes

This one explains why "Think outside the box!" is really bad advice because most who do are wandering around lost in thought.

The opportunity is to "Think into other boxes." What can you connect your thinking to that's different from where you normally think?
Think Like a Futurist

Come on, you know you want to. If you don't have time to go and get an actual degree in it, but are jealous of those of us who do, perhaps this one page instruction manual will suffice.
G.K. Chesterton Quotations

I’m on the American Chesterton Society board of directors, and believe that this guy (who’s been dead since 1936) probably knew more about today than most people now alive. The past can often reveal much of what has yet to happen as well as explain a lot of what’s going on right now.
Navigating the 21st Century

Some ground rules on how to proceed, cautiously, into the early stages of the 21st century.
Worth Remembering

This handout has many of the fascinating quotations from my book Worth Remembering: the future value of old ideas.

For instance, the English writer Eden Phillpotts said, "The universe is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper." And that is a message of hope, innovation and possibilities.
Art Deco Cool

An article about my collection and passion for art deco design. The future started here.
Author: Lori Conner.
Art Deco Milwaukee

A city with industrial roots and a machine aesthetic, Milwaukee has a nice collection of art deco buildings. This is an article about my architectural tour of this city.
About this Futurist

Here's some information to use in brochure and conference website write ups.

(Do not use this as an introduction - that's elsewhere on this page.)
Zachronyms

Here's a handout from my other book, Zachronyms. Back in those amusing final years of the last millennium, a lot of funny acronyms crept into the language. Not wanting to have such gems as PUPPIES, SPORES and TWITS lost to the ages, here are a few of them to amuse and identify you well into the next millennium. (There are over 200 in the book.)
Introduction

Please use this when introducing me to the audience before I speak.

(Do not use this for brochure or website write-ups. Use the About this Futurist found above.)
AIA Introduction

This is a special introduction to use when I speak to AIA groups.
Seven Reasons

If you're thinking about hiring Dave to speak at one of your events, here are seven reasons why this could be a good idea.
Resume

For some reason, some clients want a formal resume. Ok, so it's not exactly a formal resume, but it's the best this futurist can do.
